Description

Soft and chewy maple pecan cookies packed with toasted pecans and rich maple flavor, finished with a warm maple icing.

Ingrédients

Scale
  • 2 1/3 cups (292g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple extract
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup (112g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  2. Cream the softened butter and dark brown sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, pure maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract until completely smooth.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients just until combined, then gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  5. Cover the dough tightly and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours to prevent spreading.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop 1.5-tablespoon sized balls of chilled dough onto the sheets, leaving 3 inches of space between each.
  7. Bake for 12–13 minutes, or until the edges are just set.
  8. Let the cookies rest on the warm baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Warm the butter and pure maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted.
  10. Remove from heat and whisk in the sifted powdered sugar and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  11. Drizzle the warm maple icing over the cooled cookies.
  12. Allow about 1 hour for the icing to set completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Do not skip the 2-hour chill, as chilling helps prevent the cookies from spreading. Use 100% pure maple syrup and real maple extract for the best flavor. For extra flavor and crunch, toast the chopped pecans in a dry pan over medium heat for 3–5 minutes before folding them into the dough.

Timing: The total includes 20 minutes of preparation, 13 minutes of baking, 2 hours of chilling and about 1 hour for the icing to set. Allow additional time for the baked cookies to cool completely before icing.
