- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- For the Stuffing Topping
- 1 box (6 oz) stuffing mix (like Stove Top)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Optional Add-Ins
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Colby-Jack cheese
- ½ cup frozen peas or green beans
- ½ cup chopped celery or onions for extra texture
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the chicken, both soups, sour cream, milk, and seasonings. Stir until creamy and well blended. If you’re adding veggies or cheese, mix them in now.
- Layer in the Casserole Dish: Spread the creamy chicken mixture evenly in your prepared baking dish. Set aside while you make the stuffing.
- Make the Stuffing Layer: In a medium bowl, combine stuffing mix, melted butter, and chicken broth. Stir until moistened but not soggy.
- Assemble & Bake: Spoon the stuffing mixture evenly over the chicken base. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
This casserole can be made ahead — just cover and refrigerate before baking. Add 10 minutes to the bake time if cooking from chilled. Great for using up leftover chicken or turkey!
