Description
Soft, chewy, and packed with melty chocolate chips — this is the ultimate homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Cream Butter & Sugars: In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine & Add Chocolate: Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture. Stir in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Chill the Dough: Cover and chill dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets and bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Cool & Serve: Let cookies cool on pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack. Enjoy warm with milk!
Notes
Chilling the dough enhances flavor and texture. For bakery-style cookies, use a mix of chocolate chunks and chips.
