Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter & Sugars: In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Combine & Add Chocolate: Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture. Stir in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  5. Chill the Dough: Cover and chill dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets and bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  7. Cool & Serve: Let cookies cool on pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack. Enjoy warm with milk!
