Description
Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection — these Classic Cheeseburgers are a timeless favorite with melty cheddar, crisp veggies, and a toasted bun that completes the bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20 blend — 80% lean, 20% fat)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, adds tang)
For Assembling:
- 4 brioche or sesame buns, toasted
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- Lettuce, tomato, red onion slices
- Pickles (optional but classic)
- Burger sauce or mayo
Instructions
- Step 1 – Prepare the Patties: Place ground beef in a bowl and gently mix with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire, and Dijon mustard. Form into 4 equal patties about ¾-inch thick. Press a small thumb indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.
- Step 2 – Preheat the Grill or Pan: Heat your grill or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.
- Step 3 – Cook the Burgers: Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side for medium, flipping once. Add cheese in the last minute to melt.
- Step 4 – Toast the Buns: Lightly butter buns and toast them cut-side down until golden brown — that crisp edge adds incredible texture.
- Step 5 – Assemble & Serve: Layer bottom bun → sauce → lettuce → burger → tomato → onion → top bun. Serve immediately with fries, chips, or a side salad.
Notes
💡 Pro Tip: For extra juicy burgers, handle the meat as little as possible. Rest cooked patties for a minute before assembling to retain juices!
