Description

A perfect balance of sweet heat, these candied jalapeños are glossy, spicy, and addictive—ideal for topping burgers, sandwiches, or cheese boards.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs jalapenos
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 1 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Bring vinegar, sugar, and spices to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Add jalapenos and return to a boil.
  4. Simmer for 4 minutes.
  5. Transfer jalapenos to jars using a slotted spoon.
  6. Boil syrup for 6 minutes until thickened.
  7. Pour syrup over jalapenos.
  8. Let cool and refrigerate.

Notes

Do not overcook the jalapeños to maintain their crisp texture. The syrup thickens further as it cools.
