Description

This Masterclass Steak and Melted Cheese Wrap combines juicy seared steak, caramelized onions and peppers, rich melted cheese, and your favorite sauce wrapped inside a perfectly toasted tortilla. A hearty and satisfying meal packed with flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large flour tortillas (burrito-sized)
  • 300g high-quality steak (rump, flank, or sirloin)
  • 100g melting cheese (Cheddar, Provolone, Mozzarella, or Emmental), shredded or sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the pan
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • Mayonnaise, spicy mustard, barbecue sauce, or guacamole, for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
  2. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce if using.
  3. Heat a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat until very hot.
  4. Sear the steak for 2 to 3 minutes per side until a rich crust develops.
  5. Transfer the steak to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  6. Slice the steak thinly against the grain.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium and add a small drizzle of oil to the pan.
  8. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until tender and lightly caramelized.
  9. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for 10 seconds.
  10. Spread your preferred sauce across the center of each tortilla.
  11. Layer the sautéed onions and peppers over the sauce.
  12. Add the sliced steak and top with the shredded or sliced cheese.
  13. Fold in both sides of the tortilla and roll tightly from the bottom to form a wrap.
  14. Place the wraps seam-side down in a hot dry skillet or panini press.
  15. Toast for 2 to 3 minutes, turning as needed, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  16. Slice diagonally and serve immediately.

Notes

Allowing the steak to rest before slicing keeps it juicy and tender. Warm tortillas are easier to fold and help create a tightly wrapped, restaurant-quality result with perfectly melted cheese.
