- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract, white vinegar, and red food coloring.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet mixture until just incorporated.
- Chill the dough for 30 to 60 minutes.
- Scoop dough into balls and place on baking sheets spaced apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
- Let cookies cool completely.
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then mix until creamy.
- Spread or pipe frosting onto cooled cookies.
Notes
Chilling the dough improves texture and prevents spreading. Always frost cookies once completely cooled to avoid melting the cream cheese frosting.
