Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tbsp ceremonial grade matcha
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Divide dough evenly into two bowls.
- Sift matcha powder into one portion and mix until evenly green.
- Take small pieces of each dough and gently twist together.
- Roll into balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the swirl pattern to maintain a beautiful marbled effect. Ceremonial grade matcha gives the brightest color and smoothest flavor.
