Cake Layers

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • ½ teaspoon salt

Strawberry Filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Cream Layer

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Shell

  • 250 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk, mixing until the batter is smooth and creamy.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow cakes to cool completely before assembling.
  10. To prepare the strawberry filling, combine sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a bowl and let sit for 10 minutes.
  11. To make the cream layer, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then continue whipping until thick.
  12. Place the first cake layer on a serving plate. Spread whipped cream evenly over the top and add the strawberry mixture.
  13. Place the second cake layer on top.
  14. Melt dark chocolate and coconut oil together until smooth.
  15. Let the chocolate cool slightly but remain pourable.
  16. Slowly pour the melted chocolate over the cake and spread gently so it drips down the sides.
  17. Refrigerate until the chocolate shell sets before slicing.

Notes

For extra decoration, garnish the cake with fresh strawberries or chocolate curls. The coconut oil helps the chocolate shell harden into a thin layer that cracks beautifully when sliced.
