Ingredients

  • 1/2 large green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Add butter, diced onion, and minced garlic.
  5. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Stir in sliced carrots and chopped cabbage.
  7. Season with dried thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Cover and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender but not mushy.
  9. Add Worcestershire sauce and caraway seeds if using.
  10. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  11. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving if desired.

Notes

For extra depth of flavor, let the cabbage lightly caramelize before covering. Serve hot as a complete one-pan meal.
