Ingredients

- 2 cups chocolate cake crumbs
- 1/4 cup condensed milk
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (toasted)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Orange food coloring
- 1/4 cup melted butter or sugar syrup
Instructions
- Mix chocolate cake crumbs, cocoa powder, and condensed milk until a dough forms.
- Roll mixture into small 1-inch balls.
- Toast flour in a dry pan until lightly browned and nutty, then cool.
- Combine toasted flour, coconut, powdered sugar, and nutmeg.
- Add orange food coloring and vanilla extract, rubbing mixture together until evenly orange.
- Brush each chocolate ball with melted butter or dip lightly in sugar syrup.
- Roll balls generously in the orange coating mixture.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Toasted flour gives the coating its signature nutty flavor. Keep the coating dry and crumbly for the authentic butternut texture.
