Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup cheddar cheese
- 10 cups water (baking soda bath)
- ⅔ cup baking soda
- Coarse salt
- 1 egg (egg wash)
Instructions
- Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rest for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Mix mozzarella and cheddar cheese in a bowl.
- Divide dough into equal pieces. Flatten, add cheese, and seal tightly.
- Roll into ropes and shape into classic pretzels.
- Boil water with baking soda. Dip each pretzel for 20–30 seconds.
- Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with coarse salt, and bake until golden brown.
Notes
Make sure the edges are tightly sealed to prevent cheese from leaking while baking.
