Description

Soft, golden homemade pretzels stuffed with gooey melted cheese, perfect for a comforting snack or party treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese
  • 10 cups water (baking soda bath)
  • ⅔ cup baking soda
  • Coarse salt
  • 1 egg (egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rest for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
  4. Mix mozzarella and cheddar cheese in a bowl.
  5. Divide dough into equal pieces. Flatten, add cheese, and seal tightly.
  6. Roll into ropes and shape into classic pretzels.
  7. Boil water with baking soda. Dip each pretzel for 20–30 seconds.
  8. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with coarse salt, and bake until golden brown.

Notes

Make sure the edges are tightly sealed to prevent cheese from leaking while baking.
