Description

This Masterclass Smash Burger Bowl delivers all the classic cheeseburger flavors in a fresh, satisfying bowl. Crispy smashed beef patties, melted cheese, crunchy lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and a creamy homemade special sauce make this low-carb burger bowl irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 450g ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 slices sharp Cheddar or American cheese
  • 1 head iceberg or Romaine lettuce, finely shredded
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely diced
  • 45 dill pickle spears, sliced
  • 100g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 60g mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp dill pickle relish
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Divide the shredded lettuce between two serving bowls.
  3. Arrange the diced onion, sliced pickles, and halved cherry tomatoes around the edges.
  4. Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
  5. Divide the ground beef into four equal balls.
  6. Place the beef onto the hot skillet and smash each ball into a thin patty.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  8. Sear for about 2 minutes until deeply browned and crispy.
  9. Flip the patties, top two with cheese, stack the remaining patties on top, and cook for 1 minute until the cheese melts.
  10. Roughly chop the patties and place them in the center of each prepared salad bowl.
  11. Drizzle generously with the chilled special sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

Use an 80/20 beef blend for the juiciest smash burgers with crispy edges. Chill the special sauce before serving for the best flavor. Serve immediately while the beef is hot and the vegetables remain crisp.
