Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Line and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon if using.
- Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
- Bake 22 to 28 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until golden brown and nutty.
- Cool brown butter 10 to 15 minutes.
- Whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Add milk or cream gradually until frosting is smooth and spreadable.
- Spread frosting over cooled bars.
- Slice and serve.
Notes
Do not overbake to keep bars soft and fudgy. Allow brown butter to cool slightly before mixing frosting for smooth texture.
